VARICOSE VEINS

What are varicose veins?

They are veins, generally unaesthetic and non-functional. They can be found alone or in groups and resemble a “spider web”. They are usually and most commonly found on the legs and thighs.

The principal factors

• Sex – more often in women

• Age

• Weight

• Hormonal changes

• Heat

• Standing up for long periods of time

What is the treatment?

We administer sclerotherapy, which consists of injecting with a very thin needle,  an irritating substance in the vessel that will progressively make the vein disappear. This is the treatment that is the most commonly used and it takes a few sessions before full results can be seen.
